Design Description:

Barnett Fronczak Barlowe Architects provided Architectural, Programming and Design Services for the addition and renovation of a portion of the existing Florida State University, McIntosh Track Building for the new Human Performance Laboratory.  The 4,950 square foot Lab facility consist of 3,850 square feet of space renovated into research and testing labs and an 1,100 square foot addition which houses administrative offices.  The facility will be used by research teams who will study sports performance and biomechanics.  BFBA staff worked closely with the University’s Institute of Sports Sciences and Medicine (ISSM) staff to provide a sports biochemistry laboratory will be used to test and study the variables of sports performance including speed, agility, endurance and strength of athletes.  Research findings will be shared with coaches, athletic training staff, strength and conditioning specialists and medical doctors to improve athletic performance and study the prevention and treatment of athletic injuries.
