Design Description:

The new Intramural Sports Outdoor Complex, located at the site of Florida State University’s southwest campus, will serve the thousands of student participants that are seriously constrained by the severe lack of playing fields for intramural sports activities and sports club events. The proposed facility will serve as the primary home for outdoor recreational activities and programs for the entire FSU campus. Intramural sports to be accomodated at the new facility include flag football, soccer, softball, kickball, wiffleball, sand volleyball, basketball, ultimate frisbee, tennis, and street hockey. Sport clubs that will utilize the facility include soccer, lacrosse, cricket, rugby, baseball, softball, and ultimate frisbee.

Construction:

The increase in space at the new Intramural Sports Outdoor Complex will allow for further expansion of sport clubs to include sports such as football and field hockey. In 2010, the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA), the national association for collegiate recreation programs, annouced that Florida State University’s Intramural Sports Outdoor Complex is a NIRSA Outstanding Sports Facilities national award winner.
