Design Description:

In October 2008, Space Programming meetings began with the FSU College of Law, FSU Facilities, and Barnett Fronczak Barlowe Architects utilizing the record drawings generated with state-of-the art Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology. The exchange of information at the Charrette-style meetings was open and positive with thoughtful critique from all participants as the limitations and opportunities of the existing building were matched to activities and functions of the various programmatic space needs of the College of Law.  Each iteration was reviewed and refined with input from the user group, including the Information Technology department and maintenance staff, as well as the mechanical/electrical/plumbing and civil engineering consultants and the construction team. The final set of Space Programming floor plans satisfies the College of Law user group and the FSU Facilities representative, achieves the Board of Governors Strategic Planning Goals/Objectives, and reconfigures the 1st DCA site and building to meet current building codes and FSU Guidelines and Standards.
