Design Description:

Florida State University selected Barnett Fronczak Barlowe Architects to design Parking Garage No. 4 for the Tallahassee Campus.   The 980 space parking garage is located at the northeast corner of the campus, at the Tennessee and Macomb Street intersection and is adjacent to the Fine Arts Complex.   The five story, 328,000 square foot parking structure has two way traffic and interior scissor ramps for internal circulation and the lower level is dedicated for 150 faculty spaces. There are stair towers located at three corners of the structure and the fourth corner houses a Police Sub-station which fronts the roadway intersection.  Due to the existing slope of the site the facility was designed to have vehicular access at two different levels as the first floor is partially below grade on three sides.  The accessible parking spaces are located on the second level and have direct access to the on-grade sidewalks.  Included in the scope of work was the widening and conversion of Call Street from a one-way to two-way traffic and the design of the new city bus stop and Fine Arts loading zone.  The building was sited to allow for the design of a future 30,000 square foot University building to be constructed along the Tennessee Street frontage.
